Do you Know that Wearing Black and White check Scarf mean Supporting Terrorism?

The US chain Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an advert in which the celebrity chef was wearing a scarf in black and white check design. There were complaints that the scarf worn by a celebrity chef offered symbolic support for Islamic extremism. And it got a lot of media coverage.
Actually the theory behind these allegations were that this scarf design resembles a traditional Arab keffiyeh.

There was mixed response on internet about this. Some thought it should not be related to terrorism others think it do help spread the message in support or terrorism.

Even though Dunkin' Donuts has acted responsibly and considering that this ad might have caused confusion so pulled ad and said that

"The silk scarf had been selected by Rachael Ray's stylist and that no symbolism was intended. But given the possibility of misperception the commercial was no longer being used."

What is difference between scarf, stole and shawl?

Considering that this is my first post on this blog after the introductory first post, I thought it will be great to share the answer to the most frequently asked question about scarves and shawls. And this question is What is difference between scarf, stole and shawl?

The only difference between scarf, stole and shawl is the size. And most of times the differ by width.

Scarf - Size of scarf normally varies from 10cm -40cm in width and 120cm - 200 cm in length. Among scarves also they differ a lot in size. Specially summer and winter scarves.

Stole - Stoles are also sometimes called wraps. Generally comes in size of 50-70 cm wide to 175cm -190cm long.

Shawl- Shawls mostly come 80-110 cm wide to 180 cm - 210 cm long.

As you can see there is not great difference between size of stole and shawl. Traditionally shawl was popular word in India, Pakistan and Nepal. But now it has been widely adopted in west also. And in past shawl was used for winter only and were made from only pure wool.
